District 3 stretches from just north of the 45th parallel on US 95 in the Little Salmon River Canyon to Bliss, Idaho in the south. The western Border of the District is the Snake River east of Ontario, Oregon. District 3 encompasses the Treasure Valley area of Idaho which has the the largest population in the state.
Approximately half of all Idahoans live in this area consisting mostly of high desert plateau in the south and mountains to the north. Boise is the world headquarters for many major international and national companies.
Notable landmarks in the area include the Snake River and Bruneau River canyons, the Idaho State Capitol Building, World Birds of Prey Center and Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Boise has everything from the Shakespeare Festival and museums to semi-professional baseball, hockey, and basketball. There is also a diverse selection of outdoor recreational opportunities.
District 3 ISP and HQ maintains the following facilities: Patrol, Communications, Investigations, Forensics, Management Services, the POST Academy, and the Fusion Center
District 3 is situated in the southwest section of Idaho in Meridian, near the capital city of Boise. Boise is known as the "City of Trees" and is nestled in a valley with the Boise River running through the center of the city.
There are 69 employees assigned to traffic patrol enforcement, commercial vehicle enforcement, communications, and support services.
District 3 Investigations office is located in the Idaho State Police District 3 building at 700 Stratford Dr. in Meridian, Idaho. One half of the State's population lives in District 3 that includes the state's Capital City, Boise.
We investigate Homicides, Violent Crimes, Criminal Activity, Major Narcotics Smuggling, Distribution and Manufacturing cases (with a strong emphasis placed on Methamphetamine cases), and conduct Polygraph testing.
Our Detectives are also very diverse and well experienced at investigating, seizing and dismantling Clandestine Methamphetamine Labs. Investigations done in District 3 have revealed the area as a source for Methamphetamine throughout the State, District, and as far east as the mid-western states.
Our primary mission is to conduct complex drug & general investigations while assisting City, County, and Federal Officers with a variety of criminal Investigations.
