Lt. Vern Hancock
Vern Hancock started his career in law enforcement in 1989 with the Payette Police Department and continued with the Payette County Sheriff's Office. In January 1996, Lt. Hancock joined the Idaho State Police and was stationed in Mountain Home as a resident trooper. In May 2001, Lt. Hancock was promoted to specialist as a member of the Capitol Security/Executive Protection unit. He was promoted to Sergeant In July 2006 and was assigned to District 3 Patrol. Lt. Hancock was promoted to his current rank in November 2007 where he oversees the ISP Training Section, ISP Capitol Security / Executive Protection Unit, ISP Fleet and ISP Honor Guard.
Lt. Hancock is a member of the ISP Honor Guard and has been with the team since its creation in 1997. He has also served the Idaho State Police as a Field Training Officer (FTO), Firearms Instructor and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).Lt. Hancock served with the US Marine Corps Reserves and is currently with the Idaho Army National Guard.
