Idaho State Police Joins “One More Stop” Emphasis Patrol to Honor Fallen Washington State Trooper

MERIDIAN, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) will join the Washington State Patrol (WSP) in their statewide DUI emphasis patrols to honor fallen Trooper Christopher Gadd #927 on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Trooper Gadd tragically lost his life after being struck by an impaired driver on Interstate 5, north of Marysville, Washington, on March 2, 2024. Before this incident, Trooper Gadd messaged his detachment that he would join them for a break after completing ‘One More Stop.’ His commitment to keeping the roads safe remained unwavering until the end, as he sought to prevent further tragedies by pulling over for one last traffic stop that day. His actions that day, and his ultimate sacrifice, serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of public safety and the need to prevent impaired driving.

“Trooper Gadd was a fine young man with a big heart and passion to serve the community – a true example of the best of us,” said WSP Chief John R. Batiste. “He made the ultimate sacrifice while working to make our roads a safer place. “With this emphasis, we honor his memory by continuing his efforts to protect the community he dedicated his life to.”

WSP and law enforcement agencies throughout Washington will conduct the ‘One More Stop’ emphasis patrol to remember Trooper Gadd’s commitment to public safety. ISP is proud to stand in solidarity with WSP in this effort, uniting with our fellow troopers to reduce dangerous driving behaviors and save lives on our roadways. With troopers in every district working to keep intoxicated drivers off our roadways, this collective effort is a powerful message to honor Trooper Gadd’s memory.

‘Trooper Gadd’s dedication to serving his community resonates deeply with all of us in law enforcement,’ said Lieutenant Colonel Fritz Zweigart, ISP Director of Operations. ‘Joining the ‘One More Stop’ patrol is an opportunity to honor Trooper Gadd and a reminder of the importance of our mission – making sure every driver makes it home safely. Our troopers have a difficult job, but it’s a job we all believe in, and it’s one that significantly impacts our communities.’

ISP’s participation in the emphasis patrol is part of a shared commitment to honor Trooper Gadd’s memory and the ultimate sacrifice he made in the line of duty. We are grateful for the public’s support and cooperation in our efforts to promote public safety and reduce the incidence of impaired driving on our roadways.
