Our Programs and Issues

Investigations has responded to unique criminal conduct and developed programs to address these issues.
The programs are:

Marijuana Eradication Program

Developed to combat the growing of marijuana, a key to this program is the ability for the citizens of Idaho to leave anonymous information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the Marijuana Hot Line. The toll free number is 1-800-524-7277 or 1-800-52GRASS. The information is immediately respond to the reporting party upon their request.

If you prefer, you can also help out by emailing this statewide information form with as much detail as possible to your district investigative representatives.

This program is ran in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Forest Service and
Bureau of Land Management, as well
as local law enforcement agencies.

Another particular concern to the Idaho State Police is the attempt to legalize marijuana for use for some alleged medical conditions or as an agricultural crop.

ISP has prepared an informational research and position paper to more fully address these false and erroneous claims. Please review this paper, which deals with this issue point by point. Simply put, there is no legitimate reason to legalize the use of marijuana – None.

Methamphetamine Clandestine
Lab Unit

Developed to deal with the investigation of methamphetamine labs including the processing
of these highly toxic and dangerous sites. During 1999, this unit responded to 171 methamphetamine lab sites, which resulted in clean up costs in excess of $530,000. This cost does not include any costs borne by the property owner or landlord to return to the property to an inhabitable condition.
