Press Conference Announcing Multi State Holiday DUI Emphasis Patrols

When: Monday November 25th 1:30 pm

Where:  Idaho State Police Region 1 Office
	  615 Wilbur Ave CDA, ID

     This holiday season, law enforcement agencies from Northern Idaho, Eastern Washington and Western Montana will be working together to reduce crashes caused by impaired drivers. 
     
     Colonel Kedrick Wills of the Idaho State Police, Captain Jeff Otis of the Washington State Patrol and Lt Colonel Jason Hildenstab of the Montana Highway Patrol will be on hand to talk  about the serious and at times deadly consequences impaired driving causes in their particular area. 
     
     Asst. Chief Justin Lundgren of the Spokane Police Department will be introducing this year’s Border to Border Theme and why it’s important for agencies to work together to keep impaired drivers off our  roadways.  
     
     John Tomlinson from the Idaho Office of Highway Safety will recognize the North Idaho DUI Task Force for reducing alcohol related crashes and fatalities in 2019.
     
     Lakeland High School’s Emmy nominated Hello Hawks Video Broadcasting Class has created an impaired driving public service announcement that will also be released during the press conference.  
     
     Immediately following the Press Conference, the media is invited to stay and hear Vern and Pat Allen share the story of their son Ryan.  Ryan was involved in a crash with an impaired driver when he was 8 years old. The crash left him confined to a wheel chair with a devastating brain injury.  On March 9, of this year,  Ryan was killed in a crash caused by an impaired driver. 
     
     The Coeur D Alene Police Department will be providing an alcohol wet lab for the media following  the Allens’ story.  The alcohol wet lab will provide an opportunity for the media to feel the effects alcohol impairment can cause.
