UPDATE: The roadway has been reopened. Idaho State Police still advises the public to use caution when travelling, as evening temperatures will dip below freezing again.

INFORMATION: Extremely icy road conditions in the Coeur d'Alene area. Idaho State Police along with Benewah County Sheriff's Office and Kootenai County Sheriff's Office are closing SH97 due to freezing rain and poor road conditions. Idaho State Police are investigating numerous crashes and slide offs in the area. If traveling, use extreme caution, avoid this area and use another route.
