Idaho State Police is investigating a three-vehicle collision that occurred at 6:44 p.m., on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, on I84 near milepost 196.5 in Jerome County.

An 18-year-old male from Boise was driving westbound in a 2008 GMC Yukon on I84. A 58-year-old male from Boise, with a 54-year-old female passenger, also from Boise, was driving in a 2019 Audi Q8. The Audi was slowing for traffic in the left-hand lane when the GMC struck the Audi from behind. The GMC proceeded to veer into the right-hand lane where it struck the rear of a 2021 Toyota Prius driven by a 78-year-old male with a 78-year-old female passenger, both from Eagle. The GMC came to rest against a fence off the right-hand shoulder.

The driver of the GMC was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The occupants of both the Audi and Toyota were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Audi was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. Both occupants from the Toyota were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The passenger of the Audi succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The roadway was blocked for approximately three and a half hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Minidoka County Sheriff's Office, Idaho Transportation Department, Rock Creek Fire, Classic Air, Air St. Lukes, Lifelight Network, and Magic Valley Paramedics.
