This course provides RNs and APRNs with the knowledge to practice as a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE).  The SANE uses the nursing process and applies established evidence-based standards of forensic nursing practice to ensure that all patients reporting sexual violence and victimization receive competent nursing and medical-forensic evaluation, taking into consideration developmental, cultural, racial, ethnic, gender identity, sexual, and socioeconomic diversity.
