2 Vehicle Fatal Crash in Nez Perce County
NEZ PERCE COUNTY, ID
Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash which occurred on August 19th, 2025 at 4:11 P.M. on Highway 12 near milepost 17.5 in Nez Perce County, Idaho.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2025 Subaru Forester, occupied by both an 80-year-old male and 80-year-old female from Peck, ID, was traveling east. A gray 2024 Ford Bronco occupied by a 55-year-old female from Lewiston, was traveling west. For an unknown reason, the Subaru Forester crossed the center line and struck the Ford Bronco head-on. This caused the Ford Bronco to roll onto it’s side, which resulted in a vehicle fire. The Subaru came to rest in the roadside ditch of the eastbound lane.
The single occupant of the Ford Bronco was removed from the vehicle by motorists due to the immediate threat of the fire. She was then transported to a local hospital for treatment by ground ambulance while emergency responders worked to control the blaze.
The passenger of the Subaru Forester sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment by air ambulance. The male driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The highway was blocked for approximately 4 hours while emergency responders worked on the scene; it was reopened at 8:04 P.M. Next of kin for the deceased has been notified. This crash remains under investigation.
