At approximately 8:00 this morning, Friday, April 24, 2014, Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash eastbound on I84 at milepost 55, approximately one mile east of the Broadway interchange. Traffic was moving slowly due to construction, as well as a separate crash which was being investigated by Ada County Sheriff's Deputies. Julie Boyd, age 35 of Boise was stopped in traffic in the eastbound lanes. Salvador Alvarez, age 32 of Nampa was also eastbound. Alvarez failed to stop for traffic and collided with the rear of Boyd's vehicle.

Traffic was completely blocked for about fifteen minutes until the left lane was cleared. The right lane remained obstructed for approximately another hour. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and airbags deployed in Alvarez' vehicle. Boyd was expected to be transported by a personal vehicle for injuries.
