On Friday, July 26, 2013, at approximately 6:57 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash off of State Highway 34, on Slug Creek Rd near the Dry Valley Mine in Caribou County.

Rebecca Putnam, 64, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, was driving south on Slug Creek Road, three and a half miles south of the intersection of Slug Creek Road and South Trout Creek Road, in a 1993 Suzuki Sidekick. Putnam came to a corner and failed to negotioate the curve. The vehicle exited the roadway off the left side. Putnam and her passenger, Bonnie Higgins, 51, of McCammon, were both ejected from the vehicle. Putnam succumbed to her injuries on scene. Higgins was transported by ground ambulance to Caribou Memorial Hospital.

Notifications have been made to next of kin. Neither parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
