On Saturday June 15, 2013, at approximately 8:25 pm, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle crash northbound on SH46 at milepost 89.2, near Buhl. Walter Tibbets, 44 of Hazelton, was traveling northbound on SH46 in a 1995 Kenworth tractor trailer, when a vehicle headed southbound crossed over into the northbound lanes . To avoid a collision, Tibbets swerved onto the right shoulder and to avoid hitting the guardrails he overcorrected to the left and lost control. Tibbets then crossed both lanes of travel and jack knifed on the right shoulder. Tibbets was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Both lanes of travel were blocked for approximately 4 1/2 hours for the crash investigation.
