Shortly after 4 AM this morning, January 27, 2011, an Idaho State Police officer was involved in a short pursuit in Meridian. State Police Trooper Cottrell attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for crossing over the center line and an equipment violation.

Trooper Cottrell attempted to pull the vehicle over in the area of Meridian Rd. and W. Penwood St. when the suspect, Ronte Eaton, age 29 of Meridian, attempted to elude the officer for a short distance and then fled on foot, leaving a female passenger in the vehicle.

Not long after Eaton fled on foot, an officer with the Meridian Police Department located Eaton along Meridian Road. Eaton was arrested and charged with Felony Eluding, DUI, Driving Without Privileges, Providing False Information to a Police Officer, Resisting and Obstructing Officer, and Driving without Insurance, 2nd offense.

The Ada County Sheriff's Department also assisted with the search.
