DIESEL FUEL SPILL

On Friday, June 18, 2010 at approximately 11:00 am, on the Yellowstone Highway (US 91) south of Idaho Falls, (south of Melaleuca to Town and Country Gardens Center) a Burns Concrete Truck drove over a manhole cover, when for an unknown reason, it flipped up striking the fuel tank. The truck traveled about 1 3/4 miles before it ran out of diesel fuel. Approximately 75 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the highway and traffic was limited to one lane for three hours. Idaho State Police assisted the Idaho Falls Fire Department, Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho Falls Street Department, Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho Transportation Department hazmat representatives.
