Providing information and identification services that assist law enforcement agencies and support the criminal justice system.

The Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) is crucial in enhancing public safety and supporting the criminal justice system. We provide comprehensive information and identification services to empower law enforcement agencies in detecting and apprehending criminals.

As the State’s central repository for criminal records, fingerprints, and crime statistics, BCI ensures a seamless coordination of terminal access to the Idaho Public Safety and Security System (ILETS). We serve as the control terminal agency for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and operate the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
Our services extend to every facet of the criminal justice community, including local, state, and federal agencies. BCI is committed to being customer-driven and service-oriented, actively engaging with and assisting the general public through various functions. We continuously strive to improve our operations to meet the evolving demands of the criminal justice community for immediate access to information and swift, accurate criminal identification.
