Deaths in Custody Reporting Act (DICRA) of 2013
The Idaho State Police’s Pass-Through Grants and Research Department (ISP PGR) is the State Administering Agency (SAA) for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), a federal pass-through formula grant awarded annually to states by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), U.S. Department of Justice. As Idaho’s SAA for JAG funding, ISP PGR is required to collect and report data pursuant to the Deaths in Custody Reporting Act (DICRA) of 2013 (Public Law 113-242) to BJA. ISP PGR collects DICRA reports from state and local law enforcement and correctional agencies on a quarterly basis, and compiles those reports for submission to BJA.
The Idaho Statistical Analysis Center (ISAC) coordinates data collection and provides technical assistance to Idaho agencies that are required to report. If you have questions about DICRA reporting or require technical assistance, please contact ISAC Director Thomas Strauss at (208) 884 – 7047.
