Head-On Collision on Interstate 84 in Payette County

NEW PLYMOUTH, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on I84 near New Plymouth.

Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a two-vehicle head-on collision that occurred at 11:28 p.m. on July 18, 2024, on I84 at mile marker 9 southeast of New Plymouth, in Payette County.

A blue 1999 Buick Century, driven by a 43-year-old male from Nampa, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I84. A purple 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, driven by a 39-year-old male from Nampa, was driving eastbound on I84. The Buick Century struck the Chevrolet pickup head-on before coming to rest in the median, while the Chevrolet came to rest in the eastbound lanes. A 1998 Ford Expedition, driven by a 48-year-old male from Ontario, Oregon, was driving eastbound. The Ford collided with the Chevrolet.

The drivers of both the Buick and the Chevrolet were transported by air ambulance to a local hospital.

The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately three hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

This incident is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
