Fatal Crash Elk City Summit Rd. near Newsome Creek Rd. in Idaho County, Idaho
On October 5th, 2024 at 3:10 pm the Idaho State Police and Idaho County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash which occurred near Elk City Summit Rd and Newsome Creek Rd in Idaho County, Idaho.
A 57-year-old male from Nampa, Idaho was driving a white 2001 Ford F350 which was also occupied by a 67-year-old female and a 41-year-old male. The Ford was traveling westbound on Elk City Summit Rd. The vehicle lost the ability to brake which caused the vehicle to drive off the road and go up an embankment before overturning.
The 57-year-old male sustained no injuries. The 67-year-old female passenger was transported by air-ambulance to a local hospital. The 41-year-old male was pronounced deceased on scene.
The road was closed for approximately 3 and a half hours in both directions for emergency responders to process the crash scene before it was re-opened in both directions. The female passenger was wearing a seatbelt. Both males in the vehicle were not wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol and Speed are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Next of Kin for the deceased has been notified.
This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
