CORRECTION: Fatal Crash on US95 North of New Meadows

NEW MEADOWS – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 7:39 pm on October 16, 2024, on US95 at milepost 172.9 north of New Meadows, in Adams County.

A blue 1978 Datsun 280z driven by an 80-year-old man from Riggins, ID was traveling northbound on US95 when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle attempted to brake, and slid into a red 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 that was traveling southbound and driven by a 71-year-old man from New Plymouth, ID. The vehicles collided head-on. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, however, the Datsun was not equipped with airbags.

The driver of the Datsun succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Ram sustained minor injuries.

Both lanes of US95 were blocked for approximately four hours.

The collision is under investigation by the Idaho State Police
