Fatal Crash on State Highway 41 and W Prairie Ave in Post Falls
Post Falls, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred on November 19, on SH41 at the W Prairie Ave intersection in Post Falls.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., a 75-year-old male from Cocolalla was travelling north on SH 41 in a Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to stop for a red light at the SH41 and W Prairie Ave intersection. A 56-year-old male from Coeur d’Alene was travelling west on W Prairie Ave in a Toyota Prius when he was struck by the Chevrolet.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported with minor injuries by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Prius was also transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Next of Kin have been notified.
Traffic on SH41 and W Prairie Ave was shut down for 1 hour and partially blocked for almost 2 hours.
The Idaho State Police were assisted by Post Falls Police, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and Idaho Transportation Department.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
