Idaho State Police District 4 Thanksgiving Travel Emphasis: Operation Turkey Trot a Success

The Idaho State Police (ISP) District 4 Thanksgiving Travel Emphasis, Operation Turkey Trot, successfully enhanced road safety and curbed aggressive driving during the busy Thanksgiving travel period, making our communities safer and more secure.

“A heartfelt thank-you goes out to everyone who contributed to this operation. The dedication and collaboration of our partners from the Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, and Minidoka County Sheriff’s Offices were instrumental in ensuring its success,” said Sergeant Michael Marrott. “The motoring public noticed increased law enforcement presence, helping to deter unsafe driving behaviors and reduce crashes.”

Operation Turkey Trot demonstrated the power of teamwork and proactive policing, emphasizing the collective commitment to making the roads safer and sending a strong message about the importance of responsible driving.

Operation Results:

Motorist Contacts: 343

Citations Issued:

  • 110 for speeding
  • 22 for aggressive driving
  • 6 for driver’s license violations
  • 5 for equipment violations
  • 4 for seatbelt violations
  • 1 for an open container of alcohol by a passenger

Arrests:

  • 1 felony arrest for drugs, paraphernalia, and destruction of evidence
  • 1 arrest for eluding
  • 5 cite-and-release arrests for misdemeanor drugs and paraphernalia possession

Crashes Investigated: 3

“Special recognition is also extended to the ISP dispatchers, who skillfully managed the high volume of contacts and ensured seamless communication throughout the operation. We couldn’t have done it without their incredible support,” Sgt. Marrott added.
