Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Suspicious Device in Twin Falls
TWIN FALLS, Idaho – In the early morning hours on Sunday, December 15, 2024, an Idaho State Police (ISP) trooper conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Heyburn Avenue and Blue Lakes Boulevard in Twin Falls on a 2014 Audi A7 for speeding.
During the stop, the trooper requested assistance from the Twin Falls Police Department (TFPD). A TFPD officer discovered a suspicious black tube inside the Audi. The TFPD Bomb Squad responded to the scene and secured the area to ensure public safety. The Bomb Squad safely extracted the black tube from the vehicle. After a thorough vehicle search, no additional suspicious items were found.
The initial investigation determined there were suspicious contents inside the tube.
The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old Twin Falls man, was arrested and booked into the Twin Falls County Jail on probable cause for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
As ISP troopers are not bomb experts, the exact nature of the device will be identified by the Twin Falls Bomb Squad. The investigation into the device is ongoing, and possible charges are pending.
ISP thanks TFPD and their Bomb Squad for their assistance and swift response.
