Idaho State Police Supports Community Partners for Helmet Fundraiser to Protect Kids
MERIDIAN, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) is supporting a vital safety initiative alongside local law enforcement and civic organizations. The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (ICOM) Neurosurgery Club is partnering with school districts across the Treasure Valley to host a helmet fundraiser, ensuring children in need have access to essential safety gear for outdoor activities.
From February 24 through March 14, the fundraiser aims to provide 100 helmets to students whose families cannot afford one. These helmets will help protect children while they ride bicycles, scooters, and skateboards. The initiative works directly with several local school districts, including Caldwell, Nampa, Vallivue, and West Ada, to identify students needing helmets.
“As a state law enforcement agency, we care deeply about the local communities where our troopers serve and live,” said ISP District 3 Captain Michael Winans. “Child safety is a top priority, and we too often see the tragic consequences when proper precautions aren’t taken. This fundraiser is a great opportunity for our troopers and agency to support a program that provides essential safety equipment while encouraging responsible riding habits among young students.”
