Injury Crash North Bound US95 at Milepost 470

Idaho State Police and Bonner County Sheriffs are investigating a two-vehicle injury crash which occurred April 2, 2025, at approximately 4:50 PM on US 95 near milepost 470, Bonner County, Idaho.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2013 Mercedes-Benz driven by a 72-year-old male from Austin, Texas was traveling northbound on US 95, failed to maintain their lane, drove left of center and collided with a 2020 Peterbilt Tractor trailer driven by a 46-year-old male from Westlock, Alberta, which was traveling southbound on US 95.  After the collision, the Peterbilt became disabled blocking the southbound lane of travel, and the Mercedes-Benz came to a final rest on the southbound shoulder.  Also, in the Mercedes-Benz was a 74-year-old female from Austin, Texas.

The driver and passenger of the Mercedes-Benz were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and were transported to a local area hospitals by ground ambulance for injuries. 

The driver of the Peterbilt was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured.

Traffic on US 95 was blocked in both directions for approximately two hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved.  After approximately two hours, the northbound lane of travel was opened to allow for alternating traffic.  The roadway was completely reopened approximately 7 hours after the crash occurred.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
