Two Vehicle Fatality Crash in Gooding

GOODING, Idaho – Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatality collision that occurred at 2:11 p.m. on Wednesday May 28, 2025, on I84 at milepost 142.5 in Gooding County.

A 2017 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 39-year-old-feamle from Issaquah, Washington, and a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia driven by a 61-year-old-male from Eastland, Texas, were traveling westbound on I84 when traffic came to a slow down. The Jeep Cherokee attempted to go around the Freightliner Cascadia and hit the trailer it was pulling.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital and the passenger, a 35-year-old-female from Mill Creek, Washington succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner Cascadia was not transported. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

The left westbound lane was blocked for approximately three hours to allow emergency personnel to assist those involved and clear the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
