Treasure Valley DUI Task Force partners with WCF to provide Lyft rides during holidays

BOISE, Idaho — The Treasure Valley DUI Task Force is partnering with WCF Insurance and several local businesses to provide thousands of $10 Lyft ride vouchers, encouraging drivers to choose a safe ride home rather than drive impaired during the holiday season.

For the second year in a row, the task force will hand out rideshare vouchers during traffic stops. Participating businesses will also offer QR codes patrons can scan to access a free ride home.

In addition to the rideshare initiative, the task force will conduct a DUI enforcement operation from Dec. 31 through Jan. 3. During this period, drivers can expect an increased law enforcement presence as officers focus on impaired driving violations.

“Impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatal crashes in the area,” Sergeant Brandon Rowley said. “Our goal is simple — prevent tragedies before they happen by encouraging responsible choices and holding impaired drivers accountable.”

The multi-agency partnership is dedicated to saving lives through education and enforcement. Participating agencies include the Idaho State Police, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Boise Police Department, Meridian Police Department, Nampa Police Department, Garden City Police Department and Caldwell Police Department.

The Treasure Valley DUI Task Force encourages those planning to drink to arrange a safe ride in advance. Suspected impaired drivers should be reported by calling 911 or *ISP (*477).
