Two-Vehicle Head on Collision West of American Falls
AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred at 7:30 p.m. on State Highway (SH) 39 at Vollmer Loop, in Power County.
A 2014 Hyundai Sonata, driven by a juvenile, was traveling southbound on SH39. A 2000 Dodge Dakota, driven by a 21-year-old male from Aberdeen, was traveling northbound on SH39. The Hyundai crossed into the northbound lanes to pass a slow-moving vehicle and collided head on with the Dodge. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes.
The driver of the Hyundai was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Dodge was transported by personal vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles were not wearing seatbelts.
The roadway was blocked for approximately two hours and 30 minutes.
Idaho State Police was assisted by American Falls Police Department, Power County Sheriff’s Office, Power County EMS, and Portneuf Air Rescue.
