Blocking Crash Highway 53 @12, Rathdrum, ID

On April 20, 2026, at approximately 1:44 p.m., the Idaho State Police, Idaho Transportation Department, and Northern Lakes Fire responded to an injury crash on Highway 53 near milepost 12, near Rathdrum, Idaho.  A FedEx delivery truck driven by a 33-year-old male from Spokane, Washington, was traveling east on Highway 53 near milepost 12.  The driver of the FedEx truck turned left in front of Kenworth Truck and trailer that was traveling west on Highway 53, by a 40-year-old male from Bonners Ferry, Idaho.  As the FedEx truck made the left turn it collided with the Kenworth.  Both drivers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The highway remains blocked as crews continue to clean up and clear the scene.  The crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
