ISP Assists GunFighter Skies Aircraft Crash
Mountain Home, Idaho – Idaho State Police assisted with road closures for an aircraft crash involving two jets that occurred at approximately 12:13 p.m., May 17,2026, near Mountain Home Air Force Base. The crash ignited a brush fire that required limited evacuations.
State Highway 67 (Airbase Road) was shut down for approximately three and a half hours for emergency responders and evacuations. Traffic onto Mountain Home Air Force Base via the main gate is no longer affected.
State Highway 167 (Grandview Highway) was shut down and will remain closed until further notice for an accident investigation. The closure is between the MHAFB Contractors Gate and Easy Street. There will be no public access between State Highway 67 (Airbase Road) and Simco Road.
Simco Road remains under active construction with reduced speed limits and gravel road surfaces. Plan for alternate routes.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Elmore County Sheriff Office, Mountain Home Police Department, Owyhee County Sheriff Office, and Idaho Transportation Department with evacuations and traffic control.
