On November 24, 2019 at approximately 5:09 p.m. a fatal crash occurred in the 3500 block of Vay RD, 20 miles south of Sandpoint, ID in Bonner County. A blue 1997 Jeep Wrangler driven by Nichelette L. Greene, 38, of Spokane Valley, WA was traveling southbound and struck Leo W. Welke, 28, of Priest River, ID who was walking on the road. Welke was transported by Life-Flight to Kootenai Health where he was pronounced deceased. The incident is still under investigation.
