Treasure Valley DUI Task Force marks two-year anniversary with Halloween enforcement operation

MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Treasure Valley DUI Task Force will begin a three-day enforcement operation tomorrow evening, as law enforcement agencies work together to keep impaired drivers off the roads during Halloween weekend. The operation comes as the task force marks two years of coordinated enforcement and education across the Treasure Valley.

Formed in October 2024 in response to an increase in impaired driving crashes, the task force brings together eight law enforcement agencies that pool personnel and resources to prevent serious injuries and deaths. During its first year, the task force made 325 DUI arrests across 10 enforcement operations. So far in 2026, the task force has made 326 DUI arrests in nine operations.

The task force encourages everyone celebrating Halloween to plan ahead for a sober ride, never ride with an impaired driver and speak up if someone is about to drive impaired.

In addition to enforcement, the task force offers presentations to businesses, schools and community organizations about the dangers of impaired driving. Presentations can include demonstrations using impairment goggles and discussions about how alcohol affects coordination, judgment and the ability to drive safely. To request a presentation, contact Sgt. Brandon Rowley at brandon.rowley@isp.idaho.gov.

Media interested in attending the briefing or riding along with the task force can contact public information officer Sophia Miraglio at 208-989-0837.
