On Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 1:22 pm, Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash westbound on SH78 at mile marker 85, near Bruneau.
Michael T. Richardson, 26, of Nampa, was driving westbound on SH78 in a 2007 Dodge Dakota. Richardson attempted to turn south onto a dirt road and was struck from behind by a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Terry L. Willden, 61, of Seymour, TX.
Willden was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Richardson was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Elmore Medical Center in Mountain Home. All occupants were wearing seatbelts
Both lanes were blocked for approximately two hours. The lanes have been reopened.
