Cattle on US30 near Lava Hot Springs Cause two Crashes

On June 13th, 2012 at approximately 11:20 pm, the Idaho State Police investigated two separate crashes eastbound US30 at milepost 365 near Lava Hot Springs involving cattle. Michelle Friedel, 33 of McCammon, was traveling eastbound in a 2005 Kia Optima when she struck a cow. Leanne Facer, 44 of Lava Hot Springs, was traveling behind Friedel when she struck an additional 3 cows. Facer had to be extricated from her vehicle and was transported to Portneuf Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Idaho State Police were assisted at scene by Bannock County Sheriffs. The crash is still under investigation.
