On Friday, November 16, 2012, at 6:42pm, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle crash on State Highway 46 just north of Wendell, ID. Carey Jenks, 57 from Gooding, ID, was driving a Ford Taurus north on State Highway 46 at the 102 mile marker. Several horses were in the roadway and on the shoulder at this location. Jenks collided with some of the horses. Jenks was transported by ground ambulance to North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding. His 15 year old juvenile passenger was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts.
Two of the horses had to be put down at the scene. The owner of the horses was notified. Alcohol is not a factor and no charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
