On April 1, 2015, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 260, three miles west of the Juniper Road exit. Stanley Walter, 77, of Burley, was eastbound in a Honda Odyssey. Stanley drove off the left shoulder, hit the guardrail, and went into the median. The vehicle rolled and continued across the westbound lanes, where it came to rest partially in the right lane of westbound travel.
Stanley and his passenger, Alice Walter, 73, of Burley, were transported by ground ambulance to Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley. Another passenger, Deborah Hopkins, 54, of Rupert, was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. All three occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The right lane of I-84 was blocked for three hours while police and emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
