On June 18, 2017, at approximately 5:14 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Highway 55 near mile post 151, south of New Meadows. Jeremiah Watson, 19, of Council, was traveling northbound in a 1995 Honda Passport when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled. The vehicle came to rest in the southbound lanes. Watson was transported by ground ambulance to St Luke's McCall Medical Center. Watson's passenger, Raychell Robison, 18, of Council, was transported by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
Both Watson and Robison were wearing their seatbelts. Lanes were partially blocked for an hour and a half. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
