On June 30, 2016, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the Idaho State Police responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of State Highway 16 and S. John's Ave. in Emmett. Emmett Police Chief Gary Scheihing was at the stop light at the intersection of Highway 16 and S. John's Ave in a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. Kenneth Myers, age 51 of Kuna, was behind Sheihing in a 2000 Freightliner semi truck pulling a trailer. The Freightliner struck the Ford from behind. Scheihing was transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. A K9 unit traveling in his vehicle was transported to Gem Veterinary Clinic in Emmett for treatment. Both Myers and Sheihing were wearing their seat belts. The investigation is ongoing.
