On January 18, 2020 at approximately 1:44 pm, a fatal crash occurred on SH41 at milepost 12.4, near Twin Lakes, Idaho. A dark blue 2001 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Tytus W. Aske, 18, of Spirit Lake, Idaho was travelling southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, slid broadside in the northbound lanes and collided with a green 2002 Ford F150 pickup driven by Ronnie L. Vaughn, 68, of Priest River, Idaho. Aske?s passenger, Andrew S. Lucas, 18, of Rathdrum, Idaho was pronounced deceased at the scene. The roadway was blocked for approximately 3 hours. Mr. Vaughn, his passenger, Debra A. Vaughn, 65, of Priest River, and Mr. Aske were all transported to Kootenai Health. All were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.
