***************************

On December 11th, 2014, at 7:55 a.m. Idaho State Police investigated a 10-vehicle injury crash on Interstate 84, near the Meridian Road Exit.

A 2004 Audi was traveling west in the far right lane. The Audi was approaching slowing traffic when the driver attempted to change lanes to the left. During the lane change, the Audi struck a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer in the driver's side rear corner then pulled out in front of an ABF freight semi, pulling two trailers in the number three lane. The ABF semi struck the Audi sending it back into the far right lane. After being struck by the semi, it is believed the Audi was pushed into a 2008 Nissan Armada in the far right lane. The Nissan Armada was then pushed into a 2014 Honda Accord in the right lane. The ABF semi's steering was believed to be disabled by the impact with the Audi. The ABF semi then veered into the far right lane where it impacted a 2013 Kia Optima and the right cement barrier. One of the semi trailers then overturned. After being hit by the semi, the Kia struck a 1999 Ford Escort as well as a 1998 Chevy pickup. The chevy pickup was forced across the interstate and came to rest on the median Shoulder. After being struck by the Kia, the Ford Escort struck a beige 2001 Toyota Tundra. The Ford Escort also struck a 2012 Ford Focus in the far right lane.

Three people were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals.

The Interstate was blocked from 7:55 a.m. until approximately 11:45 a.m.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police. Charges will be filed at the conclusion of the investigation.
