Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision that occurred on July 8, 2023, at approximately 3:15 am on Interstate 90 near milepost 31 in Kootenai County.

A Volvo Semi Tractor, driven by a 66-year-old male from Rice, Minnesota, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 and drove onto the right shoulder of the roadway impacting the jersey barriers. The vehicle continued to travel along the jersey barriers through a curve in the roadway, and eventually impacted an embankment on the right shoulder of the roadway.

The driver of the Volvo was not wearing his seatbelt and was found deceased at the scene of the crash. The Idaho State Police are working with the Kootenai County Coroner to determine if the driver?s death was due to a medical issue or the crash. Next of has been notified.

Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane of travel through the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
