On Thursday, November 8, 2012, Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle fatality crash south on US93 at mile marker 138, on Willow Creek Summit. Michelle L. Dea, 42 of Challis, was driving South on US93 in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Dea failed to negotiate a corner overcorrected, lost control, and slid off the side of the hill. The vehicle rolled to the bottom of the hill and came to rest. Dea was discovered at 6:56 am by a passing motorist and reported to Custer County. Dea was wearing her seatbelt however succumbed to her injuries. Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by Custer County Sheriff's Office and Mackay EMT.
