On October 9, 2017 at 1:29 AM, a fatal crash occurred on US95 near milepost 424, four miles south of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. A silver 2007 Mercedes SUV driven by Brandon J. Luman-Heberer, 32, of Coeur d'Alene was travelling northbound on US95 when he crossed in to the southbound lanes and proceeded to drive off the west side of US95. The vehicle continued northbound and struck an embankment, the vehicle became air born before striking a tree and a rocky embankment. Luman-Heberer was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
