Idaho State Police is investigating a vehicle collision which occurred on July 9, 2023, at 10:19 a.m., on SH44 at Edgewood Lane, in Ada County.

A 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on SH44. A 2015 Nissan Rogue was traveling westbound on SH44 in the turn lane to turn south onto Edgewood Lane. The Nissan failed to yield and struck the motorcycle head-on.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 54-year-old man from Meridian, was not wearing a helmet. He was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Nissan, a 45-year-old man from Saugus, CA, was wearing his seatbelt and was not transported.

The eastbound lanes of SH44 were blocked for approximately three hours, allowing emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
