Fatal Crash on Coeur d’Alene River Rd. at milepost 19, north of Kellogg, ID

On September 21st, 2024, at 5:56 pm the Idaho State Police and Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2-vehicle crash which occurred near milepost 19 on Coeur d’Alene River Rd in Shoshone County, Idaho.

A 50-year-old male from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho driving a gray 2016 Victory Magnum was traveling southbound on Coeur d’Alene River Rd. When the Magnum was negotiating a right-hand curve it struck a red 1999 Yamaha XV1600 that was traveling northbound. The driver of the Magnum was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Yamaha was driven by a 34-year-old male of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and had a minor passenger.

The driver of the Yamaha was transported by air-ambulance to a local hospital. The minor was transported by ground-ambulance to a local hospital.

The road was closed for approximately 3 hours for emergency responders to process the crash scene before the road was re-opened in both directions. All occupants involved were wearing helmets.

Alcohol and Speed are believed to be a factor in the crash.

Next of Kin for the deceased has been notified.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
