On May 27, 2020, at approximately 6:09 pm, the Idaho State Police responded to a crash on Spirit Lake Cutoff and Polonium Way, near Spirit Lake. Johnnie Longest II, 56, of Caldwell, was driving southbound on Spirit Lake Cutoff Road. Longest left the roadway and the vehicle struck some trees. Longest was not wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified. This investigation is still ongoing.
