Fatal crash State Highway 53, Rathdrum, ID

The Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash which occurred on July 26, 2025, at 3 A.M. westbound on State Highway 53 at approximately mile post 5.

A blue 1997 Ford Explorer with a single male occupant was traveling westbound on State Highway 53 when it drifted off the right shoulder and crashed into a group of trees. The single male occupant was ejected from the vehicle. CPR was performed but the male driver succumbed to his injuries on scene. The vehicle had no other occupants.

Next of kin has been notified. State Highway 53 was partially blocked for approximately 2.5 hours while The Idaho State Police conducted the investigation.

This incident remains under investigation
