On February 28, 2020 at approximately 8:52 p.m., Idaho State Police and Boise County Sheriff's Office investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian fatality crash southbound on State Highway 55 near milepost 65, just north of Horseshoe Bend. Dennis Bachik, 54, of Nampa, was traveling south on Highway 55 in a 1997 Ford truck. Danny McReynolds, 51, of Horseshoe Bend, was walking south in the middle of the southbound lane. Bachik's vehicle struck McReynolds.

McReynolds succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.

Bachik and his passenger were wearing seatbelts.
