Fatal Crash US Highway 12 at milepost 76 near Kooskia, ID

The Idaho State Police is investigating a crash that occurred on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 3:58 pm on US Highway 12 at milepost 76, one mile east of Kooskia, Idaho. The driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle ridden by a 61-year-old male of Spokane, WA and a minor were travelling eastbound on US Highway 12 attempting to pass a slow-moving vehicle. The vehicle that was being passed then attempted to make a left hand turn and collided with the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway and crash into a tree.

Both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene. The minor passenger of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital by air ambulance.

Next of Kin has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
