On October 27th, 2020 at 01:44 AM the Idaho State Police investigated a fatal crash northbound on US95 at Appleway Avenue in Coeur d'Alene. Jason Hirschel, 29 years old of Rathdrum, Idaho, was travelling northbound on US95 approaching Appleway Avenue in a 2020 Freightliner semi pulling two trailers. US95 at Appleway had a flashing yellow traffic signal. Jordan Sieverding, 18 years old of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was travelling eastbound on Appleway Avenue approaching US95 in a black 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Appleway had a flashing red traffic signal for eastbound traffic. Jordan failed to stop at the light and entered the intersection where he was struck by Hirschel on the passenger side. Sieverding's vehicle came to a rest on the northeast corner of the intersection. Sieverding and one of his passengers Orion Trask, 19 years old of Post Falls, Idaho, were transported to Kootenai Health. The other passenger Bayli Sieverding, 20 years old of Post Falls, Idaho, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, it is unknown if the passengers were wearing their seatbelts. The roadway was blocked for approximately 5 hours. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
