On Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 4:24 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a fatal crash on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost one, in the Snake River View Rest Area, west of Fruitland.

Franklin Bashon, 44, of Ontario Oregon, was driving westbound on I84 near milepost 1, in a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. Bashon drove through the median, crossed the eastbound lanes of I84, entered the rest area, and impacted two parked trailers.

Bashon succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Next of kin have been notified.
